Next Stop..NMAT

After loosing the spark for past few days giving thoughts what finally happened in those precious 140 mins of CAT. Finally I have this feeling that it was better in fact way way better than any of my Yesteryear's' CAT. Now, its time to get up,  gear up for all what is coming this season. Next stop is NMAT yeah NMAT...my most favorite exam, the exam which came to my savior when I was down and out after Infosys almost an year and half ago. Cleared cutoffs twice in this in past two years. But this year it is not about cutoff..isn't it. NM we have some scores to settle. Next four days are going to be heck. Loads of practice.

The Day of Days..!!

Finally over with the day, the day I was eagerly waiting for. After thinking and re-thinking a zillion times, over the exam, I think I figured out most of , what I did. Heard people loose sleep before the exam, but I lost it after the exam. Not the right thing to do I know, what is gone is gone as they say, even after knowing the fact, I did the mistake. Still it was the best day, and I have still got that feeling lingering over my head. A replica of my post in PG with few changes, realizations rather. Finally I am almost happy =) .Here goes the story:


CAT Centre, Date and Slot:Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida. October 28th afternoon slot. 


1) How many attempts you have made? Section1:26, Section2:22, Overall:48


2) Your last mock score? 1201:98; 1202:94 


3) How was your experience of the test? Flawlessly conducted. The staff was helpful and everything was executed with near perfection.


4) What was the surprise element for you? 
LR was tricky nearly got 1 whole set wrong. Feel really lucky for rethinking over it. 


5) Any tips to handle the computer based exam better? 
Try not to study on the day before the test. Use it to clear the baggage from your mind. Do get at least 7-8 hours of sleep. Reach the center well in time but try to stay out of the lab for as long as possible. Don't forget to use the restroom before the 30 min deadline, as they don't even allow to use restrooms withing those 3 hours. 


6) Your overall analysis of the exam. Toughness, new topics, sections etc.


Section 1 was fairly doable but tricky. Anyone with a real good observation can peacefully ace this section. It was more about basics and observation. I was left with some 2-3 extra mins which I utilized to buckle up for section 2 (should have checked my only doubtful attempt). Lost my sleep over few questions but got most of them right after thinking many a times. Apart from human errors, everything went exactly the way it should have been =)


Section 2 on the other hand was tricky. LR was really good I must say(Real CAT level). PJs and FIB were manageable. PCs were really tricky again. At once I felt the heat in this section. Lowered my attempts. But it was somewhere running back in my mind to kill LR as they are the only ones in the section I can be confident about and go only for fairly confident attempts in English. I got a strong feeling that attempted RCs will be the deciding ones here. I am happy for my attempts but for one RC which I could not attempt. I would not have attempted the Sentence Correction even I was left with 10 extra mins. 

PS:"Dude...look at the 26 attempts in Maths, so what you got 2 wrong, but 24 should go right and those 24 are going to create the difference n yeah you were the sole one with 26 attempts in your slot".

On a light note, that is something just to cheer me up...when I am down thinking about the ones, I attempted wrongly with due regards to my stupidity :P


I gave it all I could. Could not have done better, never ever not even if I got a zillion days to prepare. Need to seriously buckle up for the upcoming battles in the season. And need to take my mind off from CAT totally.

** Dear Santa the only wish I have for this Christmas is give me all Corrects.. except for the wrong ones I counted and please take good care of Normalization**

Another one to my Slaughters 1202!

Just too near to the end of this mock marathon, I will be in the battlefield in no more than few days which I can count on my fingers now ;)

Had a good outing with 1202..but VA is troubling me n yes I am going to make it tremble. 

So, here goes the mock story:

Section1 : 25A 20C 5W 55

Section2 : 25A 16C 9W 39 (VA is killing me)

Overall :   50 A 36C 14W 94 crap..I missed the century again!


I am getting a good feel, a feel that I can make these scores soar...!!

Steve Jobs..What a Man to be!

This is something which isn't really a part of my happy go lucky blog, but I am so profoundly moved that I can't keep myself away from posting this. Millions try to learn business, but rarely does the world produce individuals that business learns a volume of lessons from. Such an individual was Steve Jobs.

Just finished watching his speech at Stanford for the nth time in last few days. Believe me every time I finish the speech, I find something or the other that is so awe inspiring, which is really hard for me to put in words. Just a quote from him at the Stanford:

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice."

I can recall many such occasions when I was asked about my role model, and I was as blank as a slate, may be it was because I never had one. Today I am happy to have one, but moved by the loss, too.

Prock Mock 10..Wohaa

Had the best mock of this season so far. Still a century is waiting. Got a call from CL in the morning, and I had to give the mock in unproctored environment, something that I am not really in favour of.

Mock was on the easier side. Section 1 went awesome 23 Attempts.

But the good comes with the bad. Section 2 played a spoilt sport. I could not attempt much dueto breaking concentration. Atleast could have attempted 1 RC more easily. For the same reason I am not in favor when it comes to writing mocks at home. Still high attempts+ so-so accuracy saved the day. Hope to make it to the cutoff.

Here goes the mock story:

Section2: 24A 17C 7W 44 fingers crossed for this one!

OA: 47A 36C 11W 97

Way too high cutoffs as expected...I need to work hard on my section 2 in coming days...

Infact this is going to be the section which will make or break my CAT and I will work hard as hard as I can to conquer this section.

n yeah, I am playing to win..this time!!

My Raison D'être!

Raison D'être...the reason to exist, one may have many reasons for the existence, but there is one which is apart from everything else. And that reason actually makes you the person what you actually are.

After I hit the ground yesterday, I was numb for a moment, the first thing that came to my mind after seeing my bleeding hands was are they ok? Will I be able to write?

It was nothing that happened yesterday, and it was nothing compared to what could have happened.

Game On...1206!

Just gave 1206..

2nd Best of the season so far. Feeling very light. Hoping to make it to the topper's list =)
Moderate level paper..though I felt a little heat in VA.

But as they say "All is well if it ends well"

Section1: 20A 16C 4W 44

Section2: 25A 19C 6W 51

OA: 45A 35C 10W 95 ...still m a little worried about my accuracy, but yes it is improving!

I felt few gaps while doing QA...geometry still need tantamount of efforts and I need to bridge other gaps as well..stat for the coming few days will be to revise as much as possible. I think a lil bit of practice + revise 1 mock a day should work.

Just to update the results were out and poor me, so occupied that dint get time to upload the results...Finally made it to the toppers list =)

this is the kind of break up I am looking for ....a 500 around rank in real cat should fetch me around 99.5+ . Wish to keep up to the scores!!

Race is on my mind...

Not getting enough words to describe how I am feeling right now..All I can say is I want do to everything for next month or so with my heart and soul to make up to my "C" Dream..!

Today is one of those days that left me with a feel that so strongly tells me I can and I will. More important is the 'Zeal' to take my preparation to the next level..

I can finally say my mind has started believing the game isn't only of aptitude..It is the attitude, the mindset. It is the way I believe...!

Begining to believe..1207!

Aim Cat 1207...

Unarguably the toughest mock of the season. It wasn't one of those mocks where you can directly go for the kill, It needed patience n perseverance. Surprisingly it dint go that bad...I have a tendency to screw up badly when things go bad, but every day is a different one ;)

So here goes the story:

Section1: 14A 11C 3W 30

Secion2: 23A 13C 10W 29

OA: 37A 24C 13W 59...bad performance but relative thing makes it okeyish!!

Still waiting for a 100+ score...

Prock Mock 9...!

Here I am again...

Had mixed thoughts whether I will be writing mocks or not for the coming few days. Finally m glad that I decided to write Proc Mock-9. It is not my best but again not the worst too.

I have forfeited the idea to remain aloof from mocks...!

It was a real good mock by CL. QA+DI being optimal cat level, lengthy and gave me a feeling of rustiness in few topics. VA+LR being more tricky than it is on a normal day.

Here goes the story:

Section1: 17A 14C 3W (39)...okeyish performance 20+ Attempts would hve been ideal.

Section2: 23A 14C 9W (33)....lost it on accuracy. Still waiting for the day come when I score a 50+ here.

OA: 40A 28C 12W...70% accuracy...need to make it up2 80% mark =)

Next up 1207...

Worst Nightmare...

2 worst mocks, 2 worst scores, what not I am shattered in past 2 days...

could not have felt more low :(

May be I have over burnt myself.

Where I feel I am lacking is I am not putting to much in studies and on the other hand I am expecting sky scrapers, I knw it is unfair...I know I need to work hard.... I need to believe those awesome scores were mine and I can get back up2 them once again.

Not in mood to say anything else. Not sure whether I will be uploading the scorecards on my happy-go-lucky blog.

Promise myself, that next post will be a biggie!

AIMCAT 1209...

Gave 1209 today. Mock was on the easier side and I missed the opportunity to turn it into my best mock of the season. So, Here goes the story:

QA+DI: 18A 16C 2W 46

VA+LR: 24A 14C 10W 32

OA: 41A 29C 12W 78

Finally I am improving on accuracy in QA+DI after sticking to the less attempt more accuracy thing, but Section2 is worrying me. Some credit goes to mismanagement at time center they asked me to move to a diff system aft section1 and lods of distractions, still I should agree that I was not too good too. It is relatively easy section and could have been aced. Where everyone is scoring , I am lagging. Section 2 has started giving me nightmares. Now I need to practice, work and do what not to get my accuracy back in place.

I will utilize most of my relaxed office hrs for this section, I need to get my confidence back in Verbal.

Will bounce back in the next mock 4 sure!

SIMCAT 6..finally a breather!

Lotss of stories for the day: starting from September, I will be working in normal working hours till the time I go on writing CAT. A day shift means less of work more of fun and yeah more of studies too, and yeah more time management as I need to change my mock timings by 180 degrees. All what i care right now is better output.

Wrote SIMCAT 6 today...good to see myself getting back to the scores I used to see before the pattern change. N yeah, balanced sectionals...yet again!

Here goes the mock story:

QA+DI: 19A 16C 3W 45

VA+LR: 28A 18C 3W 44

OA: 47 A 34C 13W 89

I targetted to attempt the whole of 2nd section, accuracy suffered on that ground :( , should have easily got 22-24 correct in the section on a good day. VA was tough , but rest of the paper was manageable.

So increasing the fairly confident attempts seems to be working. Mock was on the easier side. Still glad to see the 90s back!!

Hope to see 98-99 %tile in this one...!

AIMCAT 1210...feel gud mock!!

So wrote 1210 today. It was a feel good mock. I managed a decent accuracy aft a long time in VA but yes lowest overall attempts till yet...

Here goes the story:

QA+DI- 11A 8C 3W -21

VA+LR- 19A 14C 5W- 37

QA- 30A 22C 8W- 58

QA+DI: Felt rusty in QA. Section wasn't a cakewalk rather much more than that. Book-marked almost half of the section. Some questions gave me a feel that they can be cracked, but I thought better to come back to them later, and my later never came. Section-1 was absurd, still we never know what is absurd when it comes to C-Day. Will try to take 3 rounds from the next mock and will pick the easy ones in 1st go which I expect to be around 7-10 in every mock. And then move to the ones which need a little more effort to crack in my next rounds.

VA+LR : I attempted the section selectively I was getting boggled down by my accuracy in the section in last few mocks, but I think I lacked on number of attempts easily 23+ attempts could have been made. I need to target on LR sets. At times they are easy to crack and fetch lots of marks( I am sure, I missed an easier one today). So now target is set for this section too. 30 good minutes for VA then identify easy LR sets and slaughter them. Come back to VA and maximize.
